If you’re looking for a warm, timeless off-white, Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa 7552 may be the color for you. This beautiful, classic color is one of Sherwin-Williams’ Top 50, and it’s easy to see why. It’s neutral, inviting, and works well in just about any interior or exterior space. Let’s take a closer look at Greek Villa’s spectral data to see if it’s the right paint for your project.

What is the LRV of Greek Villa?
Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a measure of how much light a paint reflects back into a room, with 100% being highly reflective and zero being not reflective at all. Sherwin Williams Greek Villa has an LRV of 84%, putting it right in the off-white range. This means it will reflect quite a bit of light but won’t be as glaring or bright as a white with a higher LRV, such as Sherwin-Williams High Reflective White.

What color is Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa? What are the undertones?
Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa is a fairly neutral warm paint color but perhaps a bit more colorful than some other popular off-white paint colors.
To get a more objective read on this paint color, we’ll examine Greek Villa’s spectral data. First, we’ll look at the hue. A color’s hue is determined by the angle of its dominant wavelength when measured with a colorimeter. SW Greek Villa has a hue angle of 101.97°, putting it in the Yellow hue family (inching toward Green-Yellow), as you can see in the image below.

Chroma is another piece of spectral data we like to evaluate and is a measurement of how vivid or saturated a paint color is. With a chroma value of 6.20, Greek Villa has a decent amount of color saturation. This means that it has just enough yellow color pigment to give it some nice warmth, balanced with plenty of neutral white and black pigments to keep it from being a glaring yellow.

In certain qualities of light, Greek Villa’s warmth will really stand out and may look a bit more yellowish. Like many off-white paint colors, Greek Villa is highly reflective and vulnerable to the surrounding lighting.
- Greek Villa will look more balanced in rooms with North-facing light or rooms that have dim lighting.
- Greek Villa’s warmth will be more noticeable and more intense in rooms that receive a lot of Southern light or afternoon Western light. Both are warmer and a bit yellower.
- Soft white bulbs (the most popular, easily available light bulb color) tend to be quite yellow as well and may amplify the yellow in Greek Villa. Using the right color light bulbs (3000 K to 3500 K) will give SW Greek Villa a much more balanced appearance.
Is Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa a warm white or a cool white?
Because it’s in the Yellow hue family, Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa is a warm paint color.
What white trim color goes with Greek Villa?
If you’re using SW Greek Villa as your wall color, then we recommend using Greek Villa as its own trim color – just vary the sheen (flat or eggshell finish for walls, satin finish for trim). That’s because when you place two shades of white side by side, one white can easily expose the hue family or “undertones” of another. This means it’s likely one will make the other look yellow or dingy or gray by comparison. So, unless you actually want to expose the yellow tones in Greek Villa and have it look yellower than it is, we advise using the same color white paint throughout the space.

Can I use Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa for cabinets and trim?
You certainly could, especially if the other fixed element in your room (tile, backsplash, countertops) need a warmer white paint color! That being said, it’s not as popular of an option as Sherwin-Williams Pure White 7005 or Sherwin-Williams Alabaster 7008, which offer a bit more flexibility. Greek Villa has a higher chroma (i.e., a slightly stronger yellow tone) which makes it trickier to pair up with other wall paint colors compared to other more versatile whites and off-whites. In short, can be more limiting and less flexible as a cabinet or trim color.

What other paint colors are equivalent or similar to Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa?
As a reminder, I don’t ever recommend color matching between different brands. This is especially true when it comes to any shade of white paint. You cannot color match between brands and expect to get identical results. You will see shifts in color and depth. If you’re looking for a color that has an equal or similar vibe to Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa in another brand, take a look at these options:
- Behr Swiss Coffee 12
- Benjamin Moore Cloud White CC-40
- PPG Clear Yellow PPG1215-1

Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa vs Alabaster
Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa and Sherwin-Williams Alabaster are quite similar. Both are soft, warm off-whites. Based on their spectral data, both reflect about the same amount of light (Greek Villa’s LRV of 84 is slightly lighter than Alabaster’s LRV of 82). While both are in the Yellow hue family, Alabaster’s hue angle of 99.95°makes it slightly warmer. When it comes to colorfulness or chroma, Greek Villa (chroma = 6.2) is a tiny bit more saturated than Alabaster (chroma = 5.2). This means that in a side-by-side comparison, Greek Villa may appear a little yellower than Alabaster.
Sherwin William Greek Villa vs Benjamin Moore White Dove
Like SW Alabaster, Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17 is also quite similar to SW Greek Villa in terms of its lightness and hue family. Both are warm, gentle off-whites in the Yellow hue family. Again, however, the difference comes down to chroma, or color saturation. White Dove has a chroma of 4.98 compared to Greek Villa’s chroma value of 6.2. This means that in a side-by-side comparison, BM White Dove will appear considerably less yellow than Greek Villa.
Sherwin William Greek Villa vs Snowbound
The differences between Sherwin-Williams Snowbound and Greek Villa are easier to spot, even without spectral data. Both colors have similar LRVs, and both are in the yellow family (Snowbound is actually a bit warmer with a hue angle of 96.2°). However, you probably won’t notice this warmth because Snowbound is toned down with a much heavier dose of gray than Greek Villa. With a chroma value of only 3.64 compared to Greek Villa’s chroma value of 6.2, you can see Snowbound is a far more desaturated paint color. If you’re looking for a clean (colorless) white trim paint color, Snowbound is probably a better option. If you need an off-white paint color with more obvious warmth, give Greek Villa a try.
Is Sherwin-Williams Greek Villa a good exterior paint color?
Greek Villa is a great option for all types of exterior finishes. Its ideal balance of pigment and warmth ensures it won’t appear overly faded under intense sunlight (i.e., it won’t look washed out or too stark). Its gentle warmth is an especially nice counterbalance for a north or east-facing home. Keep in mind, though, that if your home is south-facing light or gets lots of Western afternoon sunshine, you’ll see more warm yellow tones rise up on a Greek Villa Sherwin Williams exterior.
