Fall home decor is all about warmth, coziness, and the comforts of home. It’s also a great time of the year to show off your house to potential buyers. Showcasing the cozy features of your home, like a fireplace or a fabulous kitchen, can really pay off as the weather turns cool.
When it comes to autumn home selling, resist the temptation to go heavy on fall-themed decor. In fact, don’t leave anything seasonal in your listing photos. It’s basically a time stamp that will let buyers know exactly how long you’ve been on the market. Do you really want Halloween-themed photos advertising your house if it still hasn’t sold by January? No way! Buyers may wonder what’s taking your house so long to sell or assume that you’re getting desperate. Don’t give away your bargaining power for a few pumpkins.
Buyers need to focus on the architectural features of your home — not a bunch of hay bales and scarecrows in the yard or ceramic turkeys on the table. If you’re feeling the urge, add a few strategically placed pumpkins or a bit of fall foliage after the listing photos have been taken.
