Getting started with our ready-made Canva Templates is a piece of cake! This post is going to walk you through the process, step-by-step!
While some of our newer templates already include these instructions, I’ve noticed that Canva makes changes to its platform every once in a while. So instead of constantly updating multiple documents, I’m adding the instructions here so that I can keep them current for all of my wonderful template users!
For the most up-to-date instructions on how to add our Three Bears Home Staging templates to your own Canva account, read below!
First Time Using a Canva Template?
You’re going to love it! Our ready-to-use templates are simple to use and give you professional quality results!
Before I walk you through the steps, I have a super important tip for you:
Pro Tip: Use a Computer — Not Your Phone!
I recommend using a computer or laptop for your initial set up and design work. The Canva app is great for small edits later on, but some features may not be accessible on a phone or tablet.
Now, let’s start designing!
Step 1: Create a Canva Account
Already have a Canva account? Skip to Step 2.
If you don’t have a Canva.com account, you can set up a FREE free account to get started! It’s quick and easy, no credit card required (unless you decide to upgrade to the Canva Pro account which I am in love with and you can try free for 30 days. Canva has an amazing library of stock photos and fun graphics).
Step 2: Log In
Make sure you are logged in to your Canva.com account! You must be logged in to Canva before moving to Step 3.
Step 3: Accessing Your New Templates
After purchasing your template from Three Bears Home Staging, you’ll be able to download an Instructions PDF. This PDF will contain a link to instantly access your Canva template. NOTE: The Instructions PDF for your template will be sent to you via email and is always available in your Three Bears Home Staging account.
When you click on that link, you are immediately brought to a new browser tab or window that reads: “A template created by Three Bears Home Staging was shared with you, start designing now!”
Then click the purple button that says “Use Template,” and you’re new template will open!
Step 4: Save a Copy
Once you click on the “Use Template” button, your copy of our template will open immediately to view and edit inside Canva!
Before you begin editing: Click “File” in the upper left-hand corner, then click “Make a Copy” to save the template to your personal Canva account. I recommend saving it as “ORIGINAL [Template Name].” Leave this one untouched and always create a new, duplicate copy to make all your edits. This way you can be sure you will always have a clean, original template to start with for each new batch of customization you make! NOTE: Most of our templates have Page 2 set up as a reminder with this same information. After saving a copy you can simply delete that page.
Step 5: Creating and Accessing Your Customized Designs
You don’t have to repeat steps 1 – 4 each time!
Next time you log in to Canva or click on the “All Your Designs” page, you’ll see your original template along with any customized versions you’ve saved!
