Fall home decor trends are about coziness. They’re about warmth, slowing down, and reconnecting with loved ones. And after the last couple of years, we could all use a little comfort and festiveness. What better way to do that than by refreshing your home decor?
You don’t have to throw a bunch of pumpkins and buffalo plaid around your house to be prepared for fall. (Ok, those are cute. But you can still nod to autumn coziness without being quite so “on the nose.”) And if you’re staging your home to sell soon, it’s especially important to bypass any super obvious fall decor. That’s because your listing photos will be more timeless without holiday or season-specific decor. Otherwise, you risk putting a giant time stamp on your photos that lets buyers know exactly how long your house has been sitting on the market.
See what I mean? This house has absolutely gorgeous fall curb appeal. But if this were a listing photo and I saw it in January…I’d instantly be wondering why it’s been sitting on the market so long and whether there was anything wrong with it.
That said, we can still embrace the change in season without going full-throttle on pumpkin decor. From warmer colors to natural fabrics and textures to all things cozy and comfortable, let’s take a look at some of the home decor trends we are loving for fall! (Of course, if you’re not planning on taking real estate listing photos then, by all means, get your pumpkin on, too!)
Warmer Neutral Colors
A calming neutral palette can help your space feel more grounded and comforting for the coming cold season (bonus: neutral colors are perfect for home staging if you’re planning to sell soon!). Beige, gold, brown, and cream are warm neutral colors that make us feel like we’re snuggling up to a cozy fire.

Cane and Rattan
These natural woven textures have been in the spotlight for a few years now and for good reason. They’re classic and incredibly versatile: they work well with traditional, coastal, bohemian, or modern decor. Whether chairs, beds, stools, benches, or wall decor, cane and rattan add an earthy, yet upscale vibe.
