Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige 7036 is a warm and versatile paint color. It’s a modern beige that leans a bit gray and is one of the most flexible paint colors available. In fact, it’s one of my personal favorites for home staging! Read on to learn if it’s the right color for your project.
What is the “undertone” of Accessible Beige?
All paint colors, even near-neutrals, belong to a hue family. In other words, they have a specific place they exist on the color wheel based on the measurement of their dominant light waves. (Some people refer to this as “undertone.”) Accessible Beige has an LCh° hue angle of 88.052°, which means it’s part of the Yellow hue family.

Does that mean Accessible Beige looks yellow? No — but it does give us more information to help us predict how it will render on the walls. Accessible Beige also has a pretty heavy dose of gray and white. What you end up with is a neutral paint color balanced by a lot of warmth (from the yellow) and a lot of light and flexibility (from the white and gray).

What is the LRV of Accessible Beige?
Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a measure of how much light a paint reflects back into a room, with 100 being highly reflective and zero being not reflective at all. Accessible Beige’s LRV is 58, so it holds its color quite well in a room with average light. Like most paint colors on the higher end of the LRV spectrum, it starts to wash out a bit in rooms that get direct hits of bright sunlight.
How Does the Exposure of My Room Affect Accessible Beige?
Exposure refers to the direction of the natural light in a room. This light tends to vary in color and intensity depending on where it’s coming from. Accessible Beige is a fairly low chroma (less colorful or vivid) paint color. Because of this, it tends to look a bit grayer in a north-facing room or rooms that have morning east-facing light. It’s got just enough warmth, though, to keep it from looking too flat or cold. In a room with southern exposure or west-facing afternoon light, Accessible Beige is a soft and subtle beige. That bit of gray keeps it from turning too yellow or orange in bright sunlight.
What Trim and Cabinet Colors Go With Accessible Beige?
Walls painted in Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige look beautiful when paired with Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17 or Sherwin-Williams Pure White 7005.
The walls in this beautiful living room are SW Accessible Beige while the fireplace mantel, trim, and cabinets are SW Pure White 7005.
What Colors Go With Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige?
Accessible Beige looks great with lower value, low chroma paint colors. In other words, it likes to partner with darker colors that have a good dose of gray (or even brown). Avoid pairing Accessible Beige with colors that have a lighter value or that have a very high chroma (super vivid or colorful).

What paint colors are similar to Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige?
Sherwin-Williams Balanced Beige 7036 is a slightly lower value (darker) version of Accessible Beige. If you love Accessible Beige and want to use it in a room that gets lots of bright sunlight, Balanced Beige will hold its color a bit better. Sherwin-Williams Natural Tan 7567 is another similar paint color, though a bit more golden.
I never, ever recommend color matching between brands. I have seen clients do this for any number of reasons (to save a little money, their contractor will only work with a specific brand, lack of access, etc.). But the bottom line is that you cannot color match between brands and expect to get identical results.
You may get really close. You may even get a color you can live with if you’re lucky. But with color matching, there are no guarantees because different brands use different formulas, bases, and proprietary pigments. Ultimately, it will be a different product.

Is there anyway to beige it up with lighting, decor etc? My walls are accessible beige in a east facing room but look very grey!
Hi, Geraldine! That is a fantastic question. I’ll bet mornings in your east-facing room probably probably look “beige-er” than any other time of the day. I would start by checking the Kelvins on the light bulbs in your room. In most cases, I recommend using bulbs in the 3000K to 3500K range, but if you’re wanting to warm things up, using bulbs that cast a yellower light (2700 K or lower) may help. Most manufacturers call this color bulb “soft white.” Definitely stay away from high Kelvin “daylight” bulbs (anything over 4000 K). See my article on choosing light bulbs for additional info: https://threebearshomestaging.com/2017/07/17/choosing-the-right-light-bulb-watts-arent-everything/ Best of luck to you!
